Art meets the nature of Bodrum Loft through a collaboration between Bodrum Loft, Artsa Consultancy and Almine Rech Gallery. I Was Here brings contemporary sculpture into the natural rhythm of Bodrum Loft. This marks the gallery’s first-ever exhibition in Turkey.

The show reflects on traces we leave behind—through a breath, a touch, a moment. From César Baldaccini’s monumental Pouce to Nguyen’s reimagined oak trees, each piece embodies presence, memory, and transformation.

Blending abstract form, ritual, and symbolism, the exhibition invites viewers to experience stillness and emotion in nature. It offers no conclusion—only the quiet echo of existence: “I was here.”

ELEMENTS (2020)

Curator: GLOBART
Artists: Musa Güney, Metin Kalkizoğlu, Begüm Mütevellioğlu, Esra Satiroğlu, Cengiz Yatağan, Leyla Emedi, Görkem Dikel, Talya Sever, Deniz Say, Nihal Yardımcı Çetinkaya, Kemal Yazıcı, Işıl Kapu, Aylin Taslak, Altay Kervan, Nilay Özenbay
15 Artists, 134 Works

As part of the “Bodrum Loft’da Sanat” project curated by GLOBART, artists explored art through three elements that have been regarded as the principles of existence from as early as 3000 BC in the Aegean philosophical tradition: Earth, Air, and Water. Just like the mysterious power of natural phenomena, “Elements” invited the audience to explore the creative process of natural forces by using material as a medium of artistic transformation. The 134 works created by artists, inspired by collective memory, reflect the life of local people from past to present through the integrative nature of the three elements. While elements from the past were expressed through various mediums such as painting, sculpture, and installation, local techniques such as wood carving, ceramics, and glasswork were reinterpreted by contemporary artists in a modern context.
